about

“Our mission is to convey a transcultural vision of contemporary art.  In collaboration with a trusted network of art experts and professionals, artness develops projects in Africa, and in the rest of the world.”

The founders

Nadine Hounkpatin and Céline Seror are independent consultants and curators, specialising in contemporary art from Africa and its diasporas. In 2013, they founded the cultural agency artness. They invested in the development of IAM – Intense Art Magazine between 2014 and 2018, and then created the print and digital platform, The Art Momentum in 2018. They share a common vision – placing the voice of the artist at the centre of the art world – and defend the values of collaboration and transculturality through an extensive network of artists, authors, art critics, and curators. For almost ten years, the duo has actively participated in the promotion of new voices and narratives from the African continent through their publications and the artistic and cultural projects they have designed in Africa and the rest of the world.

Testimonials

“Nadine Hounkpatin and Céline Seror are among the professionals I wanted from the start to bring into the collective adventure of the Africa2020 Season. For their commitment and their activism promoting the visibility of women, and especially because they are personalities from the world of contemporary art, who contribute with relevance and subtlety to the advancement of ideas. I am a great believer in the concept of collective intelligence, even if this term is a bit overused.”
N’Goné Fall, Chief Curator of the Africa2020 Season.
